Yakir Hexter z"l was a soldier serving in the Combat Engineers. He fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip on January 8.
Yakir was a runner, cyclist, and volunteer in the community - in the past, he participated in the ALYN Wheels of Love ride as a one day rider and also ran the Jerusalem Marathon for ALYN.
He was registered to participate with his father Josh in the 2023 Wheels of Love ride.
As the war broke out on October 7, the ride was cancelled. Instead of riding with his father, Yakir was called up in the Army.
We lovingly dedicate the final day of the annual ride, previusly known as GalgALYN, as Yakir Hexter Day.
ROAD
The road route will begin at Mini Israel at 9:00 AM. The route is 53 Km with 1,300 meters of climbing. There will be 2 food stops along the way. Riders finish at ALYN Hospital and there will be a short tekes with the children and families treated at ALYN. This will be at 15:30. At 16:30 buses will take riders and their bikes back to Mini Israel.
Road Route
TRAIL
The Trail route will begin in Yar Kedoshin near Ramat Raziel at this park. There is room to park and leave cars. Exact point will be sent before the ride. We start at 9:00 AM. The route is 35 KM with 814 meters of climbing. There will be 2 food stops along the way. Riders finish at ALYN Hospital and there will be a short tekes with the children and families treated at ALYN. This will be at 15:30. At 16:30 buses will take riders and their bikes back to Yar Kedishin.
Trail Route
Both routes have ride leaders, mechanics, ambulances, etc.
The registration fee for the final day is 250 NIS and we ask that each rider donate 750 NIS. If a rider is with a coporate team, we ask that the company gives 1,000 NIS per rider.
