Director of Occupational Therapy

The purpose of this project is to lend children a power wheelchair while their families are waiting to receive government permission to buy one.

The service includes evaluation of the child’s motor and cognitive abilities, training and practice sessions (“driving lessons”) as needed, and deciding on a lending program.

Possible decisions are:

  • Training and practice sessions by community therapists (physiotherapist or occupational therapist) or the parents -- after the coach has been trained by ALYN staff.
  • Practice sessions in the child’s educational framework -- after the coach has been trained by the ALYN staff.
  • Practice sessions at ALYN, with an ALYN occupational therapist – with the agreement and payment of the client’s health fund (Kupat Cholim).
  • The child is unsuitable for the project due to physical or cognitive limitations.
