If you have ever hiked through the night in the Israeli desert, you know what an awe-inspiring experience it can be. The light of the full moon makes the desert glow - you often don't even need a flashlight to see the trail. A canopy of stars twinkles overhead and you can enjoy the full power of the desert's beauty without the usual intense heat.

I invite you to join the first ever ALYN Desert Night Hike on July 18-19th. The hike begins late Thursday night in the Judean Desert. We will hike a total of around 13km along desert trails and through a little-known canyon created by thousands of years of slow erosion that creates a spectacular experience. At sunrise, we will ascend Har Tsfirah to watch the sun come up over the desert hills. See the route here.

We will end the hike with a well-deserved breakfast.

The best part of this unique hike is the reason we are doing it. Every hiker will raise or give 2,000 NIS that funds the treatment of hundreds of children with physical disabilities being treated at ALYN - Israel's only hospital exclusively dedicated to the rehabilitation of children with significant physical challenges. Registration is 200 NIS ($60).

You can either park at Kfar HaNokdim or take our bus from ALYN. Bus will leave ALYN at 21:30 and return Friday around 9:00 AM. There will be plenty of parking at ALYN.

So, what do you say? Come hike for a purpose and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference in the lives of children with disabilites.
