Demonstrating Leadership

ALYNnovation empowers children with physical disabilities around the world by providing them with innovative products, nurtured at ALYN Hospital.
Over the last few decades we have amassed a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise in the field of assistive technology. We share our experience through conferences and events which provide an opportunity for our staff to highlight the work ALYNnovation is involved in.

In 2019…

MIXiii-Biomed Conference
We were chosen to lead the first-ever track on Prevention and Rehabilitation at the MIXiii-Biomed Conference, one of the leading conferences in Israel where life sciences and technology meet, with over 1000 international participants from over 45 different countries coming together to explore trends and innovations in healthcare.
Our track highlighted the leaders in Prevention and Rehabilitation for all populations, the business and medical opportunities both fields present and the novel technologies being developed in this space. ALYNnovation’s overall knowledge of the field helped make this track a success.
Dr. Maurit Beeri, Director General of ALYN Hospital, delivered a keynote address detailing current data about people with disabilities worldwide and trends in rehabilitation, featuring some of the work of ALYNnovation’s portfolio companies.

The conference track included presentations about rehabilitation and the use of various assistive technologies, an explanation by Yaron Galitzky of Microsoft (a partner of ALYN) on the development process of the Xbox Adaptive Controller, an inspirational talk by Ziv Shilon on his own rehabilitation and how assistive technology influences his life every day and an impressive startup showcase.

British Ambassador Visit
The Honorable Mr. Neil Wigan, British Ambassador to Israel, visited ALYN Hospital along with representatives from the UK Israel Tech Hub. The visit was arranged by Sam Cronin, UK Israel Tech Hub’s Healthcare Innovation Manager.
The Ambassador was given a tour of the various departments at the hospital and received an overview briefing from senior staff about the rehabilitation services the hospital provides. He also learned about ALYNnovation’s partner companies and products being developed to help change the lives of children with disabilities around the world.
Accompanying the Ambassador on his visit were Ella Caplan, Program Manager, and Hadar Huberman, Head of Operations, both from the UK Israel Tech Hub. ALYNnovation is very appreciative of Sam Cronin’s efforts in arranging Ambassador Wigan’s visit to the hospital.

Video Gaming and Rehabilitation
ALYN Hospital regularly hosts experts from around the world who come to share information with our staff about the latest in assistive technology. In July, Occupational Therapist and Assistive Technology Specialist, Erin Muston-Firsch from Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado, visited the hospital, together with Gabi Michel, Senior Product Manager of Microsoft, as part of ALYN’s growing partnership with Microsoft. As part of the visit, Gabi provided Eli and Danny, two patients at ALYN's Independent Living Neighborhood, with a brand new Xbox and Xbox Adaptive Controller. Erin and Naomi Gefen, Deputy Director General of ALYN Hospital, personalized their gaming experiences.
Both Gabi and Erin led workshops for hospital staff about the role of video gaming in rehabilitation therapy. Hospital occupational therapists in attendance were able to learn and share what assistive technology is being utilized at ALYN to help children with disabilities.

Wheels Of Love
Wheels of Love is Israel's largest multi-day, multi-route international charity sports event, raising funds for ALYN Hospital every year.
During this year’s ride, the ALYNnovation team met with participants to expose them to the advanced assistive technologies being developed by ALYNnovation’s portfolio companies. During the riders' break in their hotel, they experienced products used by people with disabilities in their day to day life and technologies that make the rehabilitation treatment experience more enjoyable. The riders were very impressed by what they saw and were excited by ALYNnovation’s ability to support the development of technologies that are most meaningful to the people who truly need them.
