I believe:
"MY CREDO" The aim of rehabilitation, as its name suggests, is to allow the dysfunctional child to take part in activities wherein he or she can function at his/her optimal level. The child should preferably live within a family and community environment.
Normal functioning is a general concept involving personality, emotional, cognitive, communicative and motoric state of the patient. The nature and level of performance expected of each person is a function of the community and family in which he/she lives, the child’s age and his/her stage of development.
Rehabilitation treatment is a means of achieving the rehabilitation objectives and not the objective itself. As such there is a constant need to examine how this treatment serves the ultimate objective. The definition of quality of life is a highly personal and subjective matter and thus has to be initially defined by the child and his family. From this point, the entire rehabilitation process must involve continuous dialogue between the patient, the patient’s family and the medical team with regard to setting objectives and monitoring the method of achieving them. Obviously the monitoring of the rehabilitation process has to be carried out using professional "tools" in accordance with the instructions of the referring agencies and should allow for monitoring of the quality of the applications according to accepted standards. |
