Ministry of Health CEO visits ALYN: Prioritize Rehabilitation

14 January, 2013

Ministry of Health CEO, Prof. Roni Gamzo and his team, visited ALYN today to learn more about children’s rehabilitation and the work practiced at the hospital. Prof. Gamzo was shown to the different departments, was informed about the premise by Director General Dr. Maurit Be’eri and the Department Directors, and spoke to parents as well.

Dr. Maurit Be’eri says “Prof. Gamzo was very receptive and willing to help raise awareness to the importance of rehabilitative treatment. This way, more children may receive professional rehabilitation solutions. It’s time the field of children’s rehabilitation got more attention, and is perceived as a matter with crucial consequences that can echo throughout the health system.”

Prof. Gamzo praised the workers of ALYN “Their professionalism and dedication is evident, most likely thanks to ALYN’s history and purpose, and also thanks to the leadership of this intimate and very special establishment.”

In a final discussion it was decided that several committees will examine the issues brought forward during the visit, and the establishment of a rehabilitation section in the Health Administration will also be promoted.
“The challenge of the Ministry of Health is to prioritize rehabilitation. The incentive doesn’t always suffice – parents to children undergoing rehabilitation at too few and too tired to shout, so it is highly important we promote this issue” declared Prof. Gamzo.
