Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat inaugurates ALYN's newly renovated Pediatric Respiratory Rehabilitation Department
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, accompanied by the Jerusalem Municipality Director Yossi Heiman together with representatives from the Municipal Departments of Social Welfare, Sports and Health, recently inaugurated ALYN's newly renovated Pediatric Respiratory Rehabilitation Department. After being welcomed by the Director General of ALYN Hospital Dr. Maurit Beeri they toured the Hospital and met some of the children undergoing rehabilitation.
During the short inauguration ceremony Mayor Barkat, together with three year old Ramaz who is hospitalized in the Department, cut the ribbon. "ALYN is a shining pearl in Jerusalem" said the Mayor and he continued," 'The Torah shall go forth from Zion' speaks about ALYN where the staff combines creative 'out of the box' thinking, devotion and constant efforts to improve each child's independence and increase their capabilities. I very much wanted to be here today to support the ALYN staff and to congratulate them."
During the visit Mayor Barkat, together with Yossi Heiman, discussed plans for this year's five-day ALYN Hospital Wheels of Love 13th International Charity Bike Ride. As he has done in previous years Mayor Barkat will ride on the final day.
Nineteen infants, children and adolescents are hospitalized in ALYN's Pediatric Respiratory Rehabilitation Department. The renovations included the addition of a nurse's station to each room, creating a play/therapy area in the center of the Department and setting up a general monitoring system to show each patients' vital signs.
